Really nice switch; easy to use and a good system monitor
It’s hard to think of good things to say about tech products–they either work or they don’t. This switch deserves an extra star for adding a few features that really increase the usefulness of the device. The two additional speed-indicating LEDs for each port are a great feature–they are a handy and convenient proof that the entire Ethernet backbone is operating at it’s rated speed–they constantly monitor the health of the computer, the cables, and the receiving devices. All that information is available a a quick glance–it’s an “extra” that’s worth a small increase in the purchase price. I’ve bought several and I use them exclusively.

Great switch, great price, fantastic features!
A fantastic replacement for TP-Link switches. These are also managed, so you can fully control each port, setup v-LANs, and even group ports under profiles. Tons of great options, easy to update to latest firmware. Great price. Can’t beat it!

A great managed switch with the features you need
This GS308E switch has been working great for me. It has a simple web interface, no third party software required (although Netgear does have a utility to find the switch on your network if you need it).It has a stealth LED feature which is great if you don’t want this lighting up a dark room. The power LED still stays on in stealth mode, however, but that can be remedied with some black electrical tape. The switch has been perfectly reliable for me, and there’s a lot of great features like VLAN support, cable testing (to test your Ethernet cables connected to the switch), and the ability to name ports in the web interface to name a few. It also comes with the mounting hardware including anchors to be able to wall mount. It also seems this switch doesn’t reach out to the internet, which I like since I know the switch isn’t collecting any data from my network to send back to Netgear. In fact, for firmware updates, the switch interface just has a link to the Netgear website to download it from there rather than the switch being able to reach out to Netgear to get the latest firmware. If you need an 8 port managed switch, I can recommend this one. Even if you don’t need a managed switch and you just want to add ports to an existing router, this might be worth it just for the ability to disable the LEDs if you want to be able to install it in a bedroom or theater room.

    Decent switch
Switch has a decent vlan setup. A bit confusing at first but it can be daunting to people new to network setups. Other than that it is a great switch for speeds up to 1gps.

The best choice in small managed switches.
This managed 8-port gigabit ethernet switch is an excellent choice for most home and small business needs. It is well made and should last many years. It is easy to set up and manage.NETGEAR switches tend to be the better choice when it comes to residential and small business local area network needs.Netgear is a USA based and headquartered corporation and while some of its equipment is made overseas none of it is chinesium.Being an American company they are engineering and overseeing the quality of the firmware and hardware. The competitor that often is part of an internet search for small switches is completely chinesium and the quality doesn’t compare with Netgear. For reasonably priced small switches, whether managed or not, Netgear is the best option.NB: No, we don’t work for Netgear and we paid for this managed switch. We are, however, IT network systems engineers.

    Affordable Hub
I had Cat5 cable running in 7 rooms in my house for telephone lines. I converted all the lines to ethernet and installed ethernet outlets. This box is small, easily concealable, and works great as a hub to run internet to all the ethernet connections from the garage. My internet speeds throughout my house are excellent, and I’ve minimized the WiFi to just a router in the garage—the farthest point from all the bedrooms. Great affordable hub!

Very easy to setup and be running within 5 minutes.
Very easy to setup and very easy to configure and manage and it basically maintains itself.

This is the second one I’ve bought. I set it up and never had to look at it again.
